With the anticipation of meeting Jesus and reuniting with his beloved wife, Robert "Sonny" Manley Lane died December 18, 2015 at home. Born June 27, 1929 to Guy and Viola Lane in Yaeger, West Virginia, he is predeceased in death by his wife, Jean Lane, his parents and siblings Blackie, Charles, Ralph and Polly. He is survived by one brother, Roy Lane, Princeton, W.Va., six children Vicki (Cliff) Smith, Patty (Larry) Hood, Bobby (Elizabeth) Lane, Billy Lane, Mark Lane and Ward Lane, eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.
He leaves behind a legacy of grace, humility and giving. He lovingly created wood pieces for his family but he is best known for the crosses and "God is in Control" sculptures he gave away to hundreds of friends, family and strangers who were in need of an encouraging word. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Windermere, Downtown Campus. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church, Windermere. Please designate IServe Ministries (feeding families in need) or Utah Missions.
