Richard Murphy

RICHARD “DICK” FRANCIS MURPHY, age 81, of Orlando passed away peacefully on January 23, 2021.   Richard was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late John J. and Mary Ann Murphy.  He was the ninth of ten children and is a proud graduate of Father Judge High School and LaSalle College.  Richard was a veteran of the United States Army.  Before he retired he worked for Pennsylvania National Bank, First Pennsylvania Bank, SunBank, Bank of America, and Walt Disney World.  For more than 14 years he valiantly battled amyotrophic lateral sclerosis with tenacity and grace.

Richard is survived by Betty, his loving wife of 53 years.  He was father to Kevin Murphy (Tami), Lindsey Morris (Eric) and Ashley Mylonakis (George).  He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and is also survived by two brothers, Edward and Eugene.  He is preceded in death by his siblings Joseph, Helen, Jack, William, Catherine, Peggy, and James.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 28, 2021, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the funeral home.  A Catholic Prayer Service will be held Thursday evening at 7pm.  A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 29, 2021, 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5125 S. Apopka Vineland Rd., Orlando, FL.  Interment with Military Honors will be held Monday, February 1, 2021, 11:30 am at Florida National Cemetery.
