Becky Smith

December 12, 1939 — February 21, 2024

On Wednesday evening, February 21, 2024, with her children by her side, God called Becky Smith home.

Born on December 12, 1934, in Madisonville, TN, Becky was the youngest of Ralph and Mary Evelyn Watson’s three children. She graduated in 1958 from Madisonville High School, where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from King College, now King University, in Bristol TN. There she met her husband, Edwin “Buzz” Smith, of Pottstown, PA.

Becky loved to sing and she was always active in the church choir. She worked as a church youth leader, a substitute teacher and a preschool teacher. She volunteered at nursing homes and her children’s school events but was a professional at cheerfulness and making people feel special. She adored her family, especially her husband Buzz, and together they set a fine example of a loving marriage.

Becky was a huge football fan, especially of her beloved Tennessee Vols and Payton Manning. She enjoyed going to movies, flying in airplanes and of course reading books.

She is preceded in death by her husband Buzz, her parents Ralph and Mary Evelyn Watson, her brother Bill Watson, and her sister Vivian Newman. She is survived by her children Scot Smith, Heidi and her husband Jon “Chip” Finch; and Mollyanne and her husband Tristan Lindsay; three grandchildren, Jared and his fiancé Kirsten, Jonathan, and Jenny Finch; great-granddaughter Kendall Finch; extended family and friends.
