Marie Torres

Marie Carolyn Torres passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the age of 73. Marie suffered with severe pulmonary disease for the past year but never gave up hope. Marie lived in Windermere, Florida for the past 4 years but spent most of her life in Malverne, New York. She also spent some time in Massachusetts, Nebraska, and Ft Walton Beach, FL. Marie was born on October 3, 1939 in Hartford, Connecticut to her parents Christian Herbert Schumacher and Jeannette Emily Davis. She is survived by 7 children Lorilee Helen Butler, Robert Edward Maitner, Jr., Christian Albert Maitner, Jeannette Ann Maitner, Robin Lynn Alexander, Carolina Marie Torres, and Marissa Jeanne Torres. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren Jason George Rogers, Christian Bradley Butler, Eric Daniel Butler, Emily Jeanne Butler, Amy Christian Maitner, and Anthony Isaiah Delgado, and Nigel Devon Alexander.

Marie graduated from Malverne High School in 1957 and attended Adelphi University for a year. Marie was a very gifted artist working with ceramics, pencil drawings, and painting. Maries other passions include a love of animals, cooking, rock music, traveling, and spending time at the beach. She leaves behind her special dog, Cody. Her most recent pets also include Daisy, Joey and Honey Bear.

Services for Marie will be at the Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home, 1148 E. Plant Street Winter Garden, Florida 34787 on Tuesday, September 17. Visitation at 5:00 PM and an informal service at 6:30 PM.
