Maria Hernandez

Maria Hernandez, born July 23, 1932, passed peacefully on December 13, 2019 at the age of 87 years.  Maria was a woman of deep faith, survived by her husband, Rafael Hernandez.  She was the cherished mother of Wendy Ramos, the late Osvaldo Hernandez (Papo), Raphael Hernandez, Jr. and mother-in-law to Donna Hernandez.  Maria will be remembered by her family and friends who loved her dearly, including her grandson, Raphael, and her three granddaughters, Patricia, Theresa and Thalia, as well as her three great grandchildren, Ralphy, Megan and Liam.  Maria was also the beloved grandmother to the late Steven Hernandez.

Maria’s charitable and loving heart not only made her a wonderful wife and mother but also a kind and caring foster mother, as she and her husband spent many years fostering children in need of a home when they lived in Rockaway Beach, NY.  Maria was an amazing cook and a talented seamstress who loved creating beautiful things.  As a result of hard work and dedication, Maria and her surviving husband Rafael were able to spend their retirement years in a beautiful home in Ocoee, FL, which was adorned in curtains, bedspreads and cloths that Maria herself made by hand.  Maria adored her dog, CeeCee and was a devoted fur-mom as well.

There will be a public viewing for Maria on Tuesday, December 17th from 5-8PM at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home in Winter Garden, FL.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 18th at 11AM  at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, 801 N Hastings St., Orlando, FL followed by the burial.

Our hearts grieve for the loss of our beloved Maria, but we are overjoyed knowing that she is reunited with her son and grandson and that she rests peacefully with the Lord.
