Majel Anne Dove Holton of Orlando, Florida passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, January 20th, 2024, at the age of 95. She was born on December 28th, 1928, to James Brown and Anne Wilhelm Dove and grew up in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Ford Holton, her daughter, Janet Holton Woolwine and her brothers, Jerry Wilhelm Dove and Jimmie Jake Dove. She is survived by her children Henry Eugene Holton (Diane), Lyndall Holton Sullivan (Don), Kenneth Daryl Holton (Diane – dec.) and Jeffrey Alan Holton (Belinda) as well as 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many others which she was proud to call family.
As a young adult Majel worked for Kodak prior to becoming a wife and mother. She enjoyed taking pictures of family and friends. She married Henry in 1947 and gave birth to 5 children. She relocated with Henry and children to Orlando, Florida in 1965. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Huntersville, North Carolina, then transferred to Conway Presbyterian Church in Orlando. She spent most of her life devoted to her role as “Mom” and “Mammaw” as so many knew her.
Funeral Service for Majel will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, 1:00 pm at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home located at 1148 E. Plant Street Winter Garden, Florida. Viewing and visitation will take place an hour immediately before the service beginning at 12:00pm. Following the service, internment will be held at Orlando Memorial Gardens. Orlando Memorial Gardens is located at 5264 Ingram Road, Apopka, Florida 32703.
