Lawrence Paul Sipek was born on February 8, 1949 in Bedford, Ohio to Joseph and Bernice Sipek. He grew up with a brother Norm Sipek who has since passed away and survived by his older sister Donna McFadden.
Lawrence was survived by his wife Rebecca Sipek and his children Lori Sipek, Keith Sipek, April Sipek- Wills, Gary Sipek and his grandchildren who were the joy of his life Dante, Damian, Lawrence (L.T.) Morgyn and Jameson
Lawrence received his draft letter and instead of enlisting into the Army he went to the Navy Recruiter and joined the Navy as a TD (Trades Man retired rating now). Short while into the Navy career he met Rebecca Sipek and the two were married on October 29, 1970 after only dating for a few weeks. The two were married for 51 years. His naval career lead him and the young family of four to travel the world, which he always loved doing. The Navy brought him and the little family back to the States were the last two of his children were born making a large family of 6. Larry did not see the big blue sea on a war ship until later in his career when his orders took him to the Middle East on the USS Saratoga for Desert Storm / Desert Shield. It was at this time he had to change his job / rating to Aviation Electronics Technician where he worked on aircraft electronic repairing them. While he was serving, he got be a recruiter and guide young men and women to enlisted into the Navy. The last part of his Navy Career brought him to Orlando, Florida to be a Company Commander or the slang term pushing boots till the close of the Orlando base and his retirement of 22 years. During his time in the Navy, he worked on flight trainer assisting new pilots on such aircraft like F -4 Fantoms, A-6 Intruders and S-3 Vikings.
Being a cast member for Disney would be his next step in his career where he worked as an Electronics Technician for places like Disney Quest, Epcot Spaceship Earth, The Hall of Presidents and his love / hate for the Enchanted Tiki Room which was really his favorite place to work. Larry worked for 28 years for Disney before retiring completely
Some of Larry’s hobbies included tending to his fish, he at one time had a room full of tanks where he bred exotic tropical fish like angel fish, oscars, Koi and many more. He also loved a good game of ping pong and was quite good at it. He also like to read a good book, go to church and spend time with his family.
He was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held in his honor at The Collison Carey Hand Chapel on March 16th: Receiving at 10AM, Service to start at 11AM, followed by Navy Honors. Once the service has concluded, you're invited to venture next door to the VFW for light refreshments.
