Joe Douthitt

Joe Carl Douthitt - "Brother Joe", 89, of Sanford Florida, passed away on June 8, 2021. He is survived by his wife Beverly Douthitt, 86, along with his three children Joanne Mastronicola (Art), Lindley Rachal (Nathan), and John Douthitt (Elaine). He had eight grandchildren Alison Wasinger, Emily Mastronicola, Ben Mastronicola, David Joe Rachal, Toni Smith, Patrick Rachal, Alaric Douthitt, Jared Douthitt, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Born in 1932 in Batesville Arkansas, he was the last surviving sibling of seven brothers and sisters. He left Arkansas to serve in the Naval Air Force before moving to Florida where he worked as an electrician and met the love of his life, Beverly Benton. They married and raised their family in the Central Florida region, where he answered the call to join the ministry. He spent 31 years of his ministry as the pastor of Lockhart Baptist Church. Following his retirement at Lockhart, he spent the next 10 years serving as interim pastor in various churches in the Central Florida area.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 21, 2021, 1pm at Westview Baptist Church, 4100 HE Thomas, Jr. Parkway, Sanford, FL.  The family will receive friends starting at 12pm.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
