Jimmy Clayton Chandler, was born in Alabama to James Washington Chandler & Susie Rodgers Glass Chandler. He moved to Apopka, FL when he was 7 years old and graduated from Apopka High School in 1954.
He joined the Orlando Police Department in 1956. He was a Lieutenant when he retired in 1982 having received numerous awards. Jim worked for the Tavares Police Department, then spent 10 years at the Ocoee Police Department before retiring in 1994.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Eve Thomas Chandler; precious son, Philip Clayton Chandler; sweet grandson, Jaime Clayton Chandler; granddaughter, Aimee Chandler; and two daughters-in-law, Mary Lou & Charline Chandler; loving sisters, Hazel Glass Billette, Mt. Dora, and Beulah Chandler Livingston, Auburndale and his nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, JD Chandler; several sisters, uncles, aunts, brothers-in-law, step-father and a nephew, as well as his son, Dennis Wayne Chandler.
Jim was a 50-year member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, 6000 West Colonial Dr., Orlando, FL, serving as a Trustee.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 6000 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL. The Rev. Dr. Steve Ware will officiate the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
