Janet Mae Downey Ragan, 87, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020, in Winter Garden of natural causes. She was born April 23, 1933 in Bloomer, Wisconsin to the late Frank A. and Saima M. Saari Downey.
Jan served her country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Air Force. It was during this time she met her husband, Joe. Together, they traveled the world.
Jan was a Devout Christian. She recorded two albums praising the Lord with her songs. She enjoyed touring the country giving concerts.
Jan was a member of Pine Hills Methodist Church and a former president of the Central Florida Methodist Women’s Club. She enjoyed Interior Decorating, attending Home Shows, genealogy, and family history.
She was a loving mother to many generations and proud homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, Derek Ragan and Devon Ragan (Deborah); grandchildren, Jeremy Hypes and Jessica Westmoreland; great grandchildren, Abreia, Darcyne, Justyce, Daynin, Keaton, Kaylee, Kyla, Brayden, and Eleonor; and siblings, Phyllis Fullbright and Ross Downey. Jan was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joe Ragan; daughter Darcy Jo Ragan Hypes; granddaughter, Jennifer Hypes; and brother, Richard Downey.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4, 2021, 10 am, at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
