Jamie Carr

Jamie L. Carr, affectionately called Jim by those who knew him, passed away on Monday, February 4th, 2019, in the comfort of his home in Gotha, Florida at the age of 86.
Jim was born on January 8th, 1933 in Ozark, Alabama to parents Jim and Conie Pearl Stanton Carr. Jim lived in Gotha, Florida for a large part of his life. He dutifully served his country for twenty years before retiring from the Army with the rank of Sergeant First Class. During his military service, he was honored to receive the Bronze Star, two merit medals, and a US Army Commendation medal for his service in Vietnam. After his retirement, Jim was an avid member of both the VFW and the American Legion.
Jim enjoyed telling jokes and was always up to hear a good one, too. He could often be found on the lake catching fish, he loved fishing.
Jim was blessed with a large family and is survived by nine children, eighteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
A visitation is scheduled from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 13th, at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home, located at 1148 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL.
Jim's funeral service with Full Military Honors will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 13th, at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL.
