Herbert Hutchinson, 92, was the second of four children born to Arthur George Hutchinson & Tharza Hutchinson on the 10th of January 1923. His early years were spent in Port Antonio, Jamaica. When he was 15 years old his father died forcing him to start working with the Standard Fruit Co. as a part-time telephone operator. At the age of 20 he became a devout Seventh Day Adventist and through his example, his mother and three sisters followed in his path. When he was 23 he was sent to the USA as a farmworker. After returning to his homeland in 1948 he married Violet Taylor and was joined in holy matrimony on the 5th of December 1948. He came back to the USA around 1962 and made a home in Brooklyn, New York. Herbert worked at Bloomingdales in New York City for many, many years and finally retired to Orlando, Florida. Herbert and Violet were married for 66 years before her passing February 14, 2015. More than anything Herbert loved and provided for his family he was proud of all of them and bragged about them all the time. He especially loved to travel, eat KFC chicken breast & Whoppers he exclaimed "because they are so juicy!" He enjoyed his coffee and especially liked to dance to calypso! He took great pleasure in the simple things. He lived a blessed life.
