Grace Brody

Grace Catherine Brody, 89, passed away Tuesday, June 4th, 2019. She was born on March 25, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to parents Lydia and Joseph Meixner. She spent much of her life in Chicago, Highland Park, Illinois, and Sarasota, Florida.

Grace was often described as having “hands of gold”. She attended the Chicago Art Institute and used her education to build her career as an interior designer and dress designer.

She is survived by her loving husband, Frederick Brody; son, Matthew Brody (Chelle); daughter, Lydia Brody Oppen (Larry); grandchildren Robin Brody, Ryan Brody, Sarah Brody, and Alex Oppen; cousins, Fred and Alana Friedman; nephews, Ron Krueger (Lynne) and Marc Mallon; niece, Sharon Weidberg; and grand nieces, Jennifer, Joyce and Katherine. She is preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Krueger.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 9, 2019, 4 pm at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery.

Exalted and hallowed be God’s great name
