Gerald Walter Ireland

        We are sad to announce the passing of Gerald Walter Ireland 91, of Windermere Florida, formally of Oakdale, Connecticut. Gerald passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on April 18th, 2024. 

       Gerald was born on April 6, 1933, in Mishawaka, Indiana.  He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Ireland, his daughter Kelly Ireland LaCoss and son-in-law, Tim LaCoss.  He also had four amazing grandchildren Emily, Benjamin, Madison and Sidney LaCoss.

      Gerald attended school at the University of Notre Dame. After college, he served proudly for 30 years in the United States Navy in the submarine service and retired as a Master Chief Quartermaster.  He then worked as a correctional officer for 12 years at the Niantic women’s correctional facility in Connecticut.  He was a kind, patient, intelligent, creative and a very witty man who will be greatly missed. Even though he has past, his memories will always live on forever. 

There will be a small service with military honors that will be held on May 18th, 2024, at 1148 East Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787.  In Lieu of flowers the family has requested a donation to be made to Cornerstone Hospice Organization under his name please.
