Edward Earl “Ed” Ashberry, 92, of Dade City, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023 after a period of declining health.
He was born on April 3, 1931 in Coffee County, Alabama, the son of the late Will and Julia (Richardson) Ashberry. Ed worked for over 43 years for Florida Rock. He also worked for several years as a farmer and was the former owner and operator of Main Street Produce in Winter Garden. He enjoyed fishing and loved the outdoors. He was known for his friendly personality, he never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his first wife of 45 years, Kate Ashberry in 1994, his second wife of 21 years, Mary Ashberry in 2020 and his 11 brothers and sisters; Piney Ashberry, Earmae Troublefield, Shelby Ashberry, Lena Ashberry, Helen Cordwell, James Ashberry, Manuel Ashberry, Mary Shehee, Lavonia Landingham, Wilmer Gene Ashberry and Donald Ashberry.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Daffron and her husband James, his sister, Julie Howard, his two grandchildren; Rebecca Newman and her husband Matt and James Earl Daffron, five grandchildren; Braeden Newman, Marc Newman, Tyler Daffron, Cole Daffron and Emily Newman, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 11AM to 1Pm on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home, 1148 E. Plant St., Winter Garden. A funeral service will follow at 1PM, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in the family plot at Winter Garden Cemetery.
