Daniel Grover Ball, age 74, of Winter Garden, Florida went into the arms of Jesus on November 30, 2020. Daniel was born to Jacob Dillman and Louisa Chloe Ball on March 8, 1946 in Dowagiac, Michigan. He was one of five children (Dave, Nancy, Bob and Susan). He grew up and lived in Niles, Michigan until he joined the United States Navy at 17 years old. His father had to sign to give permission because he was under age. Dan served in the Navy as a Radarman for 9 years. He went to Vietnam on three deployments. He was very proud of his service to his country.
On March 26, 1971, he married Sherry, the love of his life. He would say "that was the best thing I ever did." They had been pen pals for 4 years. Dan and Sherry were married for 49 year. He was a professional over the road truckdriver. Upon retirement in 2012, Dan, Sherry and their son Jacob moved from Texas to Florida to be near family. He absolutely loved it. He lived on 5 acres where he enjoyed having chickens and eggs for the family. He would drive around the neighborhood in his golf cart and pick up trash. People would ask him why he did that. He would answer, "because God told me to." He also liked to work in his garage and had many friends.
Dan and Sherry have four children. He had a great love for his children and took delight in each of them: Shelley, Jacob, Randall and James. He would always "perk" up when they came to visit. They have nine grandchildren: Amanda, Thomas, Meyer, Marquita, Serenity, Elijah, Taylor, Riley and Morgan. PePaw/Dandy (as she is affectionately called), will be greatly missed, especially at the head of the table. But we know he is safe in the arms of Jesus. We have that blessed assurance that we will see him again someday.
