Christine H. Durden

Christine H. “Chris” Durden, 89, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025.

She was born on October 16, 1935 in Goshen, Alabama, the daughter of the late James and Lena (Wingard) Howell. Chris worked for several years as a proof reader for a book manufacture in Orlando. She was a member of the Fellowship Bible Study Church in Ocoee and enjoyed gardening and being in nature. Known as a fantastic cook, Chris was legendary for her coconut pies.

She is survived by her three sisters; Willadean Daughtry, Irene Griffin and Janice Shelton, all of Winter Garden, several, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carlton Durden in 2016, three sisters; Darlene Hall, Alene Howell and Cathy Shelton.

Visitation will be held from 10AM to 11AM on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home, 1148 E. Plant St, Winter Garden. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11AM, also at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be at Beulah Cemetery in Winter Garden.
