Dawn R. Palmer passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born in
Miami, FL, to Durwood and Susie Rollins. Dawn graduated Miami Senior High School in
1950. After attending Florida State University, Dawn married her junior high school
sweetheart Doug Palmer, who preceded her death in 2013. They settled in Fort Lauderdale,
FL where they raised, as Dawn would say, her “three greatest blessings,” who all loved her
dearly.
After a 45-year career in bookkeeping in Fort Lauderdale, Dawn moved to Clermont, FL in
2010 to enjoy a quiet retirement. Dawn was a longstanding, faith-filled member at First
Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale and later at First United Methodist Church of
Clermont. She also had a life-long love of dogs and volunteered at the Broward County
Humane Society. Throughout her life and especially since her passing. Dawn has always been described by
those who knew her, or even just briefly encountered her, as “the sweetest lady.” She lived
as she died, with love in her heart, full of grace and gratitude for God’s many blessings.
Dawn is survived by her son and two daughters and their spouses, Hank (Deborah) of York,
SC, Arden (Mark) Griffith of Windermere, FL, and Susan (Kurk) Lyons of Concord, NH;
grandchildren Matt (Natalie) of Birmingham, AL, Garrett (Holly) of Lexington, SC; two great
grandchildren Mason and Margaret Anne of Birmingham, AL, a great grandchild due in
September in Lexington, SC and thirteen step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dawn
is also survived by her niece Michele Wooldridge of Las Vegas, NV, and Michele’s children
Bryce and Cheryl. Dawn was preceded in death by her sister Cheryl R. Wooldridge..
